Ingvar Aberg

Ingvar's Headshot
Associate Director, Catalysts

Ingvar joined MIT in 2022 and oversees the Catalyst team. Before MIT, Ingvar worked in technical and leadership roles in corporations and start-ups in the U.S. and Europe. He worked extensively with nano-photonic, optical sensing and photovoltaic technologies and managed joint programs with industry and academia. Ingvar holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT, and a M.Sc. in Engineering Physics from Lund Institute of Technology at Lund University, Lund, Sweden.

Subarna Basnet

Subarna Basnet Staff PIc

Subarna joined MIT in 2011, initially as the Director of Design Science, Technology & Innovation in MIT’s International Design Center; he became a Catalyst in 2021. Prior to MIT, Subarna was a Mechanical Design Engineer at the Bose Corporation and has held various industry positions involving innovation and design. Subarna has a BE in Mechanical Engineering from IIT, India, an MS- Mechanical Engineering from Manhattan College Riverdale, NY and a Ph.D. Mechanical Engineering from MIT.

David Brin

Dave joined MIT in 2023. Before MIT, Dave worked for four years as a Vice President of Research & Development at Becton Dickinson, as well as sixteen years at C.R. Bard in a similar role. At Becton Dickinson, he led innovation in surgical areas and managed product development teams and intellectual property development. Dave holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, a M.Eng. in Engineering Sciences from Dartmouth College, and a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School

Adi Gottumukkala

Adi joined MIT in 2020. Before MIT, Adi founded and led the Intellectual Asset Management team at PPG Industries, responsible for harvesting value from PPG's global intellectual property portfolio. Adi holds a PhD in Organic Chemistry from Rijksuniversiteit Groningen, the Netherlands, and MS in Organometallic Chemistry from Université de Rennes 1, France.

Grace Leung

Grace joined MIT in 2020. Prior to MIT, Grace held positions in technology licensing and business development at Mass General Brigham and Harvard University, where she led negotiations for early-stage technology licenses and industrial sponsored research agreements.  Grace holds a PhD in Molecular Biology and Microbiology from Tufts University Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, and MPhil and BSc in Biology from The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Anna Voronova

Anna joined MIT in 2011 as the Associate Director of Research, MIT Skoltech Initiative, and was later a Program Officer at MIT-Broad Foundry and Research Collaboration Manager at the Leaders for Global Operations program; she became a Catalyst in 2023. Prior to MIT, Anna worked in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry focusing on drug discovery and development. Since 2007 Anna has served as a mentor at the MIT Deshpande Center for Technological Innovation. Anna holds a Ph.D. in Biology from the University of California at San Diego and the Salk Institute. She received her postdoctoral training at the MIT Department of Biology and the Whitehead Institute.

De Quan Wu

De Quan joined MIT in 2020. Before MIT, De Quan worked in the high tech industry as a technology consultant and technology cooperation manager, facilitating the collaboration of research projects and alliances between industry and universities in the US and in the UK. De Quan holds a PhD in Computer Vision from Oxford University, and a post graduate diploma in Computer Science from Cambridge University.

Lawrence Wu

Lawrence joined MIT in 2020. Prior to MIT, Lawrence worked at the National Institutes of Health’s Office of Technology Transfer, and also spent nearly fifteen years in drug discovery and development roles with biotechnology companies. Lawrence holds a BS in Biology from Wuhan University, and PhD in Genetics from Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai, China.
